Claiming System
The
basic Claiming System consists of 3 reports:
A Claiming Report, a Sales Report and a Detailed Pedigree Report. Other
reports such as by Sires, by Tracks, by State-Bred, by Broodmares are also
available.
Claiming
Report.
Below
is a sample page from the Claiming Report. The Claiming Report shows Fillies
and Mares entered in a race with black-type in the 1st or 2nd dams' pedigrees.
The report is updated weekly with race results. The report is sorted using a
point system weighting the black type in the pedigree. Additional points are
added for more current races.
The
top line shows the Filly/Mare entered and includes the track, race, post
position, post time of race, the distance, purse, race condition, etc. The
second line shows the sire, dam, breeder, owner and trainer. If the horse has
gone through an auction it will be shown on the third line.
The
dashed box below the race information displays a list of the black-type horses
in the 1st and 2nd dams. Most of the information shown is
self-explanatory. However, within the dashed box there are columns labeled GW,
GP, SW, SP and Update. This references a horse that is a GW (Graded Winner), GP
(Graded-Placed), SW (Stakes Winner), SP (Stakes-Placed). The field will contain
either a "0" for No, a "1" for Yes or a year, such as
"07". For example, the 1983 horse "Spirit of Fighter" has a
"1" in both the fields SW and SP meaning that the horse is both a
Stakes Winner and Stakes Placed. A "07" means the horse became
black-type in that year. For example, the horse "Super Freaky" in the
pedigree of "Marked Deck" became GW, GP and SW in 2007. The
"Update" field shows the last race date if it raced in the current
year. All starts, wins, places, shows and earnings are updated weekly.
The
codes in the report are as follows: (^ = Stakes Producer), (+ CAPS = Graded
Stakes Winner), (+ Upper/Lower Case = Graded-Placed), ($ CAPS = Stakes Winner),
($ Upper/Lower Case = Stakes-Placed).

The
Sales Report is identical
to the Claiming Report except the information is sorted by Auction Sales
Prices.
Detailed
Pedigree Report provides all racing foals in the 1st and 2nd
dams.
